The Spot & Stop Card Fraud Pack is designed to help those who can train retail staff – whether you are a retailer or a crime prevention or reduction officer - to help prevent card fraud that occurs at the sales desk.

The pack is a generic guide to complement existing card-acceptance training materials provided by a retailer's head office procedures or bank's operating instructions.

It is intended to:

  • Make fraud prevention procedures easily accessible to staff
  • Provide a simple routine for staff to use every time
  • Encourage and motivate staff on a regular basis to build a culture of fraud prevention awareness.

Spot & Stop Card Fraud is produced by Card Watch, the UK banking industry's body that works with the police, retailers and organisations including Crimestoppers to fight card crime.

The 'How to Use This Pack' and 'Instructor's Notes' sections provide background information to help you prepare for holding a training session. When running the session, you can use the 'Presentation Slides' and the 'Presentation Slide Notes' to support you.

The 'Spot and Stop Card Fraud Card Fraud Four Step Guide' is for retail staff - you can order them to distribute to your trainees (go to Publications). It backs up the information in the main training presentation, aiming to be an easy-to-use guide to be kept handy at the sales counter.
